BANGOR - Gloria Jeanne Smith, 96, wife of the late Eliott C. Smith, passed away May 5, 2024, at her home. She was born March 7, 1928, in Bangor, the daughter of Corvin W. and Anna L. (Mooney) Prescott.

Gloria was employed for 47 years at the Dental Office of Dr. Charles King Jr. She lived her whole life in Bangor and considered it to be the greatest place on Earth to spend one’s life and raise a family.

Gloria greatly loved and enjoyed her two grandchildren, and also was very fond of cooking and collecting recipes, and spending time at family gatherings.

Gloria is survived by her sons, Neale E. Smith and Raymond S. Smith; two grandchildren, Lillian P. Smith and Eliott R. Smith and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Ronald B. Prescott, Robert D. Prescott and his wife, Rita and William D. Prescott; sister, Ann L. McGowen; special cousins, Nancy and Percy Doughty; wonderful grandparents, Daniel and Lillian Mooney; and a very special aunt, Myrtle Mooney Quigley.

Relatives are welcome to call 12-2:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, immediately following calling hours. Those who wish to remember Gloria in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, 263 Main St., Bangor ME 04401.
