Hermon - Glorilea "Glo" Jewett Byers of Hermon passed away on July 17, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She is now at peace with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. Glo was born in Ripley, Maine, on January 7, 1936, to Clayton and Susan (Laughton) Jewett.
She grew up in Ripley, Mars Hill, and Dexter. She was a graduate of Dexter High School, where she played softball and earned the nickname "Bubbles" due to her fondness for chewing gum.
She married Eugene Byers in 1958 and settled in Hermon, Maine, where they raised three children.
Glo was a member of Hermon Baptist Church for more than 65 years and worked in the Christian school there for many years. Sports became a big part of her adult life, she was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, as well as a faithful follower of the Hermon High School boys and girls basketball teams.
Glo was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Gene; her sister, Donalene Tapley and her husband, Colby; brother, Larry Jewett; and brothers-in-law, Ronald Byers, Richard and his wife, Mary Byers, and Arnold Byers. She is survived by her beloved children, Karen and her husband, Rick Reynolds, Kevan and his wife, Cindy Byers, all of Hermon, and Dale and his wife, Theresa Byers, of Myrtle Beach SC. She is also survived by grandchildren, Janelle and Aaron Waite and their children, Reuben, Declan, and Éowyn, Darick Reynolds, Devon and Kayla Reynolds and their children, Jedediah, Alivia, and Haisley, Ryan Byers and fiancée, Isabelle Boria, Kyle Byers, Eric Byers, Clay Byers, and Griffin Byers and his children, Paislie and Millie; brother, Laughton and his wife, Kathe, Jewett; sisters, Jackie Overlock and her husband, Clifford, Joanne Jewett, and Jeannie Jewett; sisters-in-law, Judy Jewett, Gloria Byers, and Anne Byers; a special cousin, Mary Jane Britton MacLauchlan; and many other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. We wish to express our thanks to the staff of Gentiva Hospice, as well as Dawna, Mabel, and Kayla for the extra special care of our mom.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Hermon Baptist Church, and will be live-streamed at hermonbaptistchurch.org/livestream.
