Hampden - Gordon Levesque, 79, died on June 9 at Eastern Maine Medical Center surrounded by love and family. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 41 years, Victoria, his son, Mark Levesque, his step children Mya-Lisa King and Aaron King, his five grandchildren, Justin Levesque, Will and Jake King, Tessa and Jack Condon, as well as his in-laws, family, and friends. He was born in Bangor on July 8, 1935, and grew up in Brewer. He said his lifelong love of fishing, boating, and being outdoors came from the many hours in his youth spent wandering and exploring the rural areas and woods of Brewer. After serving our country in the U.S. Army and the National Guard, he began a career as a truck driver before moving to the auto parts field, and worked at N.H. Bragg & Sons for a decade and a half. He said one of his happiest times of employment was helping manage Ski-Horse Mountain in Newburg in the early 1960s. An avid golfer and tennis player, he was for many years a member of the Bangor Tennis Club, often frustrating his opponents with crafty left-handed spin and drop shots. He possessed an intense intellectual curiosity, and spent hours crafting solutions to challenging crosswords and puzzles. One of his joys was spending time and playing with his grandchildren and cheering them on at games and meets. Gordon will be greatly missed and always loved. The family will be holding a small private service. Those who wish to remember Gordon may make gifts in his memory to the Hampden Police and Fire Departments, 106 Western Ave., Hampden, ME 04444.
