Hermon – Grace Gates, 82, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Grace was born on August 1, 1932, in Queens, New York, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Treffeti) Gates.
After graduating high school, Grace served in the United States Marine Corps as a statistical clerk. Later she got her Associates degree, majoring in Bio-Chemistry. Grace was employed as a clerk with the US Postal Service for 25 years. During her retirement she substituted at Hermon Elementary School and taught Children’s Church at the Word of Life Christian Center. In her spare time, Grace could be found reading or doing embroidery.
Grace is survived by her daughter Cheryl Thibeault and husband Gil, of Hermon; daughter Stacy Wilbur and husband Jerry of Bar Harbor; son Wayne Eaton and wife Melodie of Columbus, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a sister Joanne Latasso of Edgewater Florida. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son, Dennis Eaton; a sister Beverly McCormick; and a brother, Ronald Gates, Sr.
