'Amazing' Grace Treworgy faithfully passed into the arms of her Lord Jesus on March 12, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and love. She was in the comfort of her own home, accompanied by just some of her many family members who all loved her and cherished time spent with her over her incredible 98 years. She was a source of sound advice and unconditional love to her family.
Born on December 4th, 1925 to William and Grace Carlisle, Grace was the fourth of five children. She attended Bangor High School, class of 1943. On January 10th, 1944 she married classmate and one true love, Robert Treworgy, who she had dated since they were 13 and 14 years old, respectively. After Robert, an Army veteran, returned from a tour in Germany in World War II, Bob and Grace, together with a partner, founded the sign company now known as Bangor Neon, solely operated by the Treworgys since the early 60's, where Grace remained at the helm until well into her 91st year.
After marrying in 1944, Bob and Grace completed their family with the birth of their son Robert C. in 1952, and their daughter, Gayle in 1956. As a couple, Bob and Grace traveled extensively over the years throughout this country and to many foreign countries as well, a number of those trips with their children in tow. Their last 'couple's trip' was to Australia in 2004 when they were 79 and 80, while also finalizing the building of the family home that they were to share with Gayle's family for nearly 20 yrs.
While passionately dedicated to her husband, children and business, Grace also pursued several personal interests and accomplishments. Over the years, she taught Sunday school at All Souls church, led boy scout troops, taught baton lessons in many greater Bangor area locations, she owned and operated the Knit Nook in Bangor, was in the Patawa Club for a number of years, she sang in Sweet Adelines, she was in a book club and participated in a candle pin bowling league every Thursday on team Bangor Neon' for years. Together with family, Grace enjoyed boating, camping, waterskiing, snow hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, motorcycling and spending every minute of time that she could at camp on Lucerne. Grace spent her youth on Lucerne
at her family's camp and as an adult, she and Bob bought their own camp in 1975 making 79 summers at her happy place where her whole family have made roots.
In addition to her parents, Grace was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert E. Treworgy; older siblings, Virginia, Arthur and Bernard; as well as younger sister, Annette.
