BANGOR – Gwendolyn E. Quill, 81, passed away December 4, 2019, at her home in Bangor. She was born October 2 1938, in North Haven, the daughter of Clyde E. and Viola G. (Beverage) Joy.
Gwendolyn graduated from North Haven High School. Following High School, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, graduating from the U.S. Navy Hospital Corp School, later stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois. Gwendolyn and her husband, Joseph, spend many years in Clinton, MA, before relocating back to Maine. She worked for Dexter Shoe as a hand sewer until her retirement. Gwendolyn devoted many years to providing foster care in the Passadumkeag area and in later years volunteered her time as a Maine Troop Greeter. She enjoyed reading, painting, sculpting, and tending to her beautiful gardens.
Gwendolyn was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph J. Quill of Bangor; sons, Joseph J. Quill of Brooksville, C. David Quill of Clinton, MA, Michael A. Quill of Passadumkeag, Mark D. Quill of Clinton, MA, Patrick S. Quill of San Diego, CA; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, James Joy of Brunswick, ME and three sisters, Jennifer Marshall of Camden, ME, Charlotte Blanchard of St. George, ME and Carleen Fuda of Olympia, WA.
