Harold “Harry” C. Flynn, Sr., 76, died after a short battle with Melanoma March 30, 2019 at Northern Lights Eastern Maine Medical Center following a heroic 8 year survival of double lung transplant surgery. He was born August 25, 1942 in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Harold J. and Mary Barbara (Ries) Flynn.
Harry left high school to join the U.S. Air Force in 1960, and after being stationed at Loring A.F.B. in Limestone, met and married the love of his life, Ruth Swenson, in 1962 in Caribou. They recently celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary. While proudly serving as an active-duty veteran for 20 years in the USAF, then another 10 years in Civil Service as a safety professional, Harry obtained his GED, continued on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master’s Degree from Husson University. He finished his academic career as a professor of Business Administration at Husson University.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Catherine. Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Swenson) Flynn; his beloved sons, Damon R. Flynn of Yarmouth, Maine, and Harold C. Flynn, Jr., his wife, Treva, of Cardiff, California; granddaughter, Ashley Flynn and her husband, Eric Romeo of Boston; and special niece, Jacqueline Amato and her husband, Tony of Princeton, NJ; special friends, Laurie (Burns) Flynn, and her children, Jordan and Djaylan Burns.
