Harold “Steve” Hughes Jr, 81, died after a prolonged illness, November 18, 2024 at a Bangor hospital. He was born August 27, 1943, in Carmel, the son of Harold S and Hazel (Lawrence) Hughes.
Steve graduated from Carmel High School in 1961. He is survived by his son, Harold Hughes III and his wife Sherry Stein of Bismarck, ND; daughter Cassandra Azevedo and her husband Michael of Carmel; five grandchildren; sisters Lois Gagliardo of Newport and Susan Bruce of Austin,Texas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Anthony, and grandson Daniel.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, November 21, at Beth Israel Cemetery with Rabbi Seimers officiating. Those who wish to remember Steve in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
