Harriet C. Maxsimic, 99, died January 28, 2024 in Leesburg, FL.
She was born in Old Town, March 29, 1924 a daughter of Peter Noel and Villa Marie (Wheaton) Caron.
Harriet was a graduate of Old Town High School, Class of 1941. She was employed with Byer Manufacturing Co. and Leighton Business System. Harriet had been a volunteer at Eastern Maine General Hospital, now Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, the Red Cross and at Dow Air Force Base Hospital during WWII. She also volunteered at the EMMC gift shop and St. Joseph Hospital at the front desk. Harriet was a former member of St. John’s Womens Council, the Current Events Club, Bangor Symphony Women and a life member of St. Joseph Hospital Womens Auxilllary.
Surviving are brothers-in-law, George Maxsimic and wife, Selda of Orrington, Edward Maxsimic and wife, Cathy of Holden; nieces, Bev Haas and husband Bob of PA, Eileen Scott of Litchfield and other nieces and nephews.
Harriet was predeceased by her husband Russell Maxsimic in 1986, special friend and companion of 14 years Donald Waring in 2006, brothers Clayton Caron killed in WWII at the battle of Normandy, Paul Caron, Phillip Caron and Victor Caron, sisters Frances Grindle, Pauline Day, Margaret Stanley, Mary Potszeba and Helen Lovell.
A private graveside service with the Rite of Committal will be held at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
