Harry E. Boone, 81, passed away, December 9, 2014, after a long battle with cancer at Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor. He was born in Eastport, June 8, 1933, the son of Herman A. and Leita (Matthews) Boone.
Harry attended Eastport schools and graduated from Shead Memorial High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. Harry worked for Air Force Security Police for 20 years before retiring from the military. After retirement, he worked many jobs, but was most well known for his kindness and generosity to all members of the Eastport community and beyond.
Harry was a man of quick-wit, who loved to write and express his intelligence in the written word. He dedicated his time and energy to the needs of his community, but his greatest joy was in raising his four sons.
Harry was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his sons, David Boone and wife, Mary Ellen of Perry, William Boone and wife, Diana of Eastport, Kent Boone and wife, Theresa of Owings, MD, and Daniel Boone and his partner, JulieAnn of Eastport; brother, Ronald Boone and wife Virginia of Brewer, 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Harry’s sons are forever grateful to the staff of Maine Veteran’s Home for the loving and compassionate care they took of Harry during his illness.
Services will be private for the family.
