Heather Nichols

July 31, 1984 — August 8, 2013

Heather Ann Nichols, 29, passed away from a brief illness August 8, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 31, 1984 at Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND, the loving daughter of Kent David Woodward and Rose Marie (Venske) Woodward.
Heather moved to Maine when she was 10 years old, spending her early school years at Owls Head Central School. From there, she attended middle school at South School in Rockland, and went on to graduate from Rockland High School in 2002. Heather loved cheerleading, and cheered for both football and basketball. She also loved taking part in her high school Drama Club, remaining behind the scenes, making costumes. When Heather graduated, she moved to Portland to further her education. Heather’s dream was to open a childcare center in Pittsfield. She graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Business from Southern Maine Community College. It was in Portland that Heather met her future husband, Matt Nichols, through a mutual friend. They were married on May 28, 2011.
Heather had many talents in the arts. She loved to scrapbook and craft, and she loved to decorate and plan parties for all occasions. She was an outgoing personality, loved by all of her friends. Heather opened her home to many, never turning down a friend in need.
Heather was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Esther and Norver Venske, and paternal grandmother, Barbara Woodward. In addition to her husband and parents, Heather is survived by her infant daughter, Ruby Ann Nichols, of Bangor; her older brother, David Woodward, and his children, Aiden and Rhiannon, his girlfriend, Tilly, and their son, Auto, of South Thomaston; younger brother, Derrick Woodward and his wife, Nicole and their son, Derrick, Jr. of South Thomaston; paternal grandfather, Kent Woodward, of Owls Head; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many wonderful friends.
