Helen “Honey” L. Bartlett, 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family May 10th, 2023. She was born April 26th , 1926, in Houlton, raised by mother Louise and Ralph Thompson. In 1946 she married Harland Bartlett and moved to the Bartlett Dairy Farm.
If you grew up in downtown Newburgh Village, there was no missing Honey Bartlett. She was a lady's lady and a farmer's wife. A proud mother. The best friend and maid of honor to her granddaughter Kate. She drove a tractor as well as a man. Her passions were family first, Hampden Academy basketball and listening to a Red Sox game. Later in life she would go on to become the face and hostess of Dysarts's Restaurant. She would greet a crowd to "woohoo, over here" commanding the dining room. Her free spirit, spitfire wit and deep family love will live on...just the way she would want it.
For those she has touched, she will forever be missed.
She is survived by her two sons; Bill Bartlett and his wife, Irene, and Richie Bartlett and his wife, Jenn, all of Newburgh; her grandchildren; Russell Bartlett and his wife, Jamie, Kate Bartlett, all of Hampden, Chris Bartlett and his wife, Melinda, of Palm Harbor FL, Dan Auger and his wife, Carlie Breen Auger, of Belgrade MT, and Hank Bartlett of Bangor; her greatgrandchildren; Kade and Kamryn Bartlett, Sawyer Worcester, Gia Davila, Jacoby Bartlett, and Sylvie Auger; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Amy Lindsey. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings and their spouses; brothers; Dick Reeves, Calvin Reeves, Tom Reeves, sisters; Kay Small, Connie Smith, and Bebe Spencer(she is survived by her husband, Don Spencer); her niece, Gail Bailey; and her nephew, Scott Reeves. In Honey’s own words, “I have many nieces and nephews and loved them all.”
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Philip Strickland for their compassionate care over the years. A Celebration of Life for Honey will be held 1-3 P.M.
