HERMON - Helen J. Bryant, 96, passed away September 20, 2021, after a long and fulfilling life. She was born in St. Stephen, N.B., Canada, July 5, 1925, the daughter of Chester G. and Janie (Reynolds) Johnson. Helen was a graduate of Woodland High School, class of 1943, and Farmington State Normal School. She began her teaching career in Northeast Harbor and went on to teach in Bryant Pond, South Paris, Rockland and Bangor. On June 26, 1954, she married Raymond Bryant and they made their home in Hermon. They were married for 30 years until he passed away in February, 1985. Helen was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed making many quilts and crafts with love and perfection. She enjoyed gardening, vegetables and flowers. Helen loved camping with her family, especially along the coast. She was a member of the PTQG, Bear Paw Quilters Chapter and the Maine Herb Society.
Surviving are her daughter, Gail Guesman and husband, Jeff, of Newport; son, Bill Bryant and wife, Darcel, of Hermon; seven grandchildren, Erin Guesman, Kerri Bazen and husband, Andrew, Bryan Guesman, Whitney Bryant, Katrice Hinton and husband, Ben, Gabrielle Sugar and husband, Zach, and Bayley Bryant; four great-grandchildren, Avery Bryant, Braydon Hinton, Owen Hinton and Jaxon Sugar; and nieces.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
