Helen E. Evancheck, 98, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2022, at a Bangor hospital. She was born on February 25, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of Hugh C. and Beatrice (Nutter) MacDougall.
Helen worked as an LPN at Eastern Maine Medical Center for 22 years and after retirement volunteered at the hospital. She loved playing all kinds of games and in her later years enjoyed traveling and golf. Helen was a longtime member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. There are many wonderful memories of going out to eat with her friends. More than anything her family was her life and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Cote and husband Richard of Winterport; a son, Wayne Evancheck and partner Tammy Van Epps of Hudson, FL; grandchildren, Amy Cote Mott and husband Josh of Mariaville, Katie Evancheck Grant and husband Josh of Stetson, Michael Evancheck of Hawaii; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Garrett, Jasmine, Jack, Rylee, Viviana, and Remi; two special nieces Bonnie and Ruth Anne. She was predeceased by her husband M. Michael Evancheck and by a grandson Jason Cote.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, September 26, 2022, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family from 10 AM till the time the service begins. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
