Herbert Brown

H. Alan Brown, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 27, 2014. He was born in Manhattan, New York on February 25, 1943 to Herbert E. and Elsie D. (Luhrs) Brown.

Alan graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1965 with a BS in Psychology, and later from Stony Brook University in 1970 with a PhD in Psychology. Alan married the love of his life, Cynthia Gadomski, on October 2, 1983. He worked as a behavioral psychologist for most of his life. In the early 1990s, he began his own private practice out of his home in Boylston, MA to be able to take care of his children. In 2003, he retired to Maine and ran the Red Barn Campground through 2013. Throughout his life, Alan enjoyed scuba diving, hunting, woodworking, music, karate and especially spending time with his wife and family at his home on Branch Lake.

Alan is survived by his wife Cynthia; his son, Ben Brower and his wife, Melodie, of Levant; son, Dustin Brown, and his wife, Kat, of Windham; daughter, Erika Beckwith and her husband, Mac, of Levant and two grandchildren, Daniel and Logan Brower.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Pastor Kirk Winters, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service.
