Hilda Eveline (Adams) MacEwen, 96, died peacefully on December 25, 2014 at her home in Orrington surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 24, 1918 in Littleton, Maine the daughter of the late Kenneth and Eunice (Graham) Adams. She married Beatty B. MacEwen in 1952.
Hilda loved being a homemaker but over the years she also worked at W. T. Grant, Bangor Shoe, and EMVTI. She loved camping with her family and reading. She took great pride in her home and her flower gardens. Hilda also loved spending winters in Florida with her son Alan.
Hilda is survived by her two sons; Dana MacEwen and his wife, Lynne of Bucksport and Alan MacEwen of Orrington; her grandson Michael MacEwen and his wife, Marion, of Orrington, and her great-grandchildren Sophie and Owen. She is also survived by her brother, Carroll Adams of Orrington.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, her parents, 4 brothers: Ellery, Ray, Clair, and Frederick and 4 sisters: Leatha, Nellie, Marion, and Marjorie.
Family and friends are invited to call 10-11 am, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St, Brewer, where a celebration of Hilda’s life will be held at 11am, with Pastor David Elliott of Otis Baptist Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share in conversation and refreshments following the service at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
