HUDSON-Hilda E. Megquier, 93, wife of Merrill A. Megquier, died peacefully May 21, 2016 at home. She was born May 30, 1923 , in Old Town, the daughter of Edmund and Lena (Russell) Chaloux. Hilda attended school in Old Town thru the 11th grade. After leaving school she worked at the Moose River Shoe Factory until she married and became a homemaker. She loved bowling which she had to give up at 92 because of her health. She enjoyed playing cards, dominos, bingo and traveling. Hilda and Merrill belonged to Holiday Day Ramblers RV Club and traveled to all but two states. The longest trip was touring Alaska and doing lots of fishing. Many weekends were spent camping and fishing.
In addition to her husband, Merrill, Hilda is survived by a daughter Christine Slowik and husband Steve of Hudson; a son Brent Pierce of Brownville Junction; a grand- daughter Salina Pierce of Bangor; a grand-son Chad Pierce of Brewer; brothers, Hubert Chaloux of Old Town; Alphonse Chaloux of Old Town, Raymond Chaloux and wife Joyce of Winter Haven, FL.; many nieces and nephews. Hilda was predeceased by her parents, sisters Mildred , Pauline; and first husband Clyde Pierce. A funeral service will be held 12 noon Tuesday May 24, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor with Chaplain Carl Bergman, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. immediately following the service Tuesday. Interment will be in the Hudson Village Cemetery, Hudson.
