Holly Smith

Holly Jean Smith, 74, passed away on February 5, 2025. She was born in Dover-Foxcroft, ME., to Harold and Jeanne (LaPointe) Smith. She grew up with her siblings and cousins in her beloved Sebec Village, ME. Her family was number one to her, she loved small town USA and fun on Sebec Lake.

Holly graduated from Foxcroft Academy, then attending college in Boston for a short time before returning to Maine and attending Beal College and Husson College, earning her accounting degree. For 20 years, she worked at Husson College in the Registrar Office and then assistant to Science and Humanities.

Holly raised her daughter, Suzanne, in the Bangor and Glenburn area and, of course, always visiting and returning to Sebec Lake for summers at camp wither her family. She lived for her grandchildren, never missing any of their sports, theatre, cheering, dance, karate, and any other activities they had growing up. She loved all her time spent with them. Holly was very much into researching her family ancestry. She spent hours delving into family history, providing packets and photos for every one of the family histories she uncovered. In the last couple of years, Holly moved in with her daughter and son-in-law and was able to see her beautiful new great-grandchildren, which brought her much joy.

In addition to her parents, Holly was predeceased by her sister, Angela Smith; and her sister-in-law, Debbie Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne McElvain and her husband, David, of Levant; grandchildren, Catherine Reading and her husband, Liam, and David "DJ" McElvain, all of Levant; great-grandchildren, Indigo Jeanne Reading and Sullivan David Reading; brother, Alan Smith of Sebec; sisters, Linda Mountford and her husband, Scott, of York, and Cherie Smith of Sebec, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments from 3-5pm, Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. Bangor, ME.
