LEVANT - Hugh Allen Cole, also affectionately known as Hughie, born on January 27, 1945 in Bangor, Maine passed away peacefully November 19, 2020 at the age of 75 at Westgate Center for Rehabilitation & Alzheimer’s Care. Hugh was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Traveling was a passion he shared with his beloved wife, Sheila Cole, whom he married on January 31, 1970, they shared over 50 memorable years together. After graduating from Hampden Academy in 1963, Hugh became a truck driver allowing him to combine his love for travel with a meaningful lifelong career. He loved being on the road and drove for Robinson-Kenny, Dead River, Irving Oil, and close friend, Steve Clisham. Outside of work, Hugh loved to garden, feed and watch the birds, listen to oldies and country music, was a Jeopardy whiz, and always had a dog by his side.
Family was important to Hugh, he always put family above all else. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Cole; son, Chris Cole and his wife, Suzanne; granddaughter, Katelyn Rugg and her husband, Joshua; grandson, Ethan Cole; sisters, Roberta Alls, Sharon Jones, Joannie Bois, Rosa Thompson; brothers, Robert Cole and his wife, Lynne and Jerry Cole and his wife, Marlene Cole; brothers-in-law, David Frey and his wife, Sandi, Dennis Frey and his wife, Linda, Michael Frey and his wife, Cynthia; sisters-in law ,Victoria Davis and husband, Roger, and Arlene Frey; as well as many much loved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Esther (Stevenson) Cole; father, Robert Cole; brothers-in-law, Hutch Jones, Larry Bois, Marshall Thompson, and Randy Frey; and special niece, Laura Frey.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Westgate Center for Rehabilitation & Alzheimer’s Care for their excellent care and compassion during his brief stay there.
