Inez Emery

July 8, 1922 — January 2, 2015

Brewer – Inez Ruby Emery, 92, widow of Carlton Emery, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 8, 1922, in Milo, the daughter of Arthur Wilder and Ruby Mae (Roberts) Inman.

Inez graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1940. She began working at Francis Casey Insurance Company after high school. Inez married Carlton Earl Emery July 3, 1947 and they spent almost 52 years together creating many happy memories with family and friends before he passed away in February, 1998.

Inez was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church in Brewer. She worked as church secretary for many years, which she fondly remembered. Inez also loved singing in the choir and enjoyed putting on many church suppers and functions. She was known as “Auntie Em” to many church family members and she dearly loved them all. Inez was a kind and loving person who recognized the best in everyone. She was a gifted note writer and enjoyed making friends and relatives days brighter with encouraging cards or notes; sometimes when they were having difficult times, but mostly just to let them know she was thinking of them and cared about them. She wrote weekly notes to her great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Inez was predeceased by a sister, Roberta (Inman) Cody; and a brother, Paul Robert Inman. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Emery) McDonald and husband Wayne; granddaughter Christie (Frost) Grant and husband William, and their children William Wesley, Jr. “Will”, Wyatt Carlton, and a great grandson who will make his appearance in April; grandson Herbert Frost and wife Jennifer, and their daughter Aundreya Inez Frost; a sister Betty McClay and husband William; sister-in-law Rita Inman; sister-in-law Thelma Church and husband Harry; sister-in-law Joan Achorn and husband Dick; many cherished nieces and nephews and special friends.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7PM, Friday, January 9, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:30PM, Saturday, January 10, at The First United Methodist Church of Brewer, 40 South Main St., Brewer, with Pastor Harbour Mitchell, III officiating.
