Irene Gray, 82.died March 19, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She was born November 14, 1931, in Dedham, daughter of Walter H. and Helen (Black) Gray.
She graduated from Brewer High School in 1948. Irene was employed for fifty years at United Way of Eastern Maine, retiring in 1998. She was a longtime member and organist of the Dedham Congregational Church, and was master of Victor Grange of Orland.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Foster; a son, Wayne and his wife, Joan of Dedham; daughter-in-law, Marilyn “Pokey” Gray of Orrington; grandson, Shawn Gray and his fiancée, Kim Tripp of Bangor; two granddaughters, Brandy-Jo Ellis and her husband James of Brewer, Amanda “Mandy” Savoy and husband Jason of Milford; one great granddaughter, Michela Malchiodi of Brewer; two brothers, Walter “Sonny” Gray of Dedham, Ward Gray of Orrington; a sister, Laura Horr of Dedham. Irene was predeceased by her son, Steve Gray and a brother, Warren “Hi” Gray.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 P.M. Friday March 21, 2014 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St. Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 10 A.M. Saturday, March 22, 2014. Private interment will be later in the spring at the Granite Cemetery, Orland.
