Bangor - Irene G. (Jordan) Johnson, 75, died unexpectedly April 6, 2021 at a Bangor hospital. She was born November 10, 1945, in Milo, the daughter of Calvin E. Jordan and Florence I. (Decker) Jordan.
Irene Graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1964. Irene gave much of her life to serving others. She worked with developmentally disabled adults for 42 years at the Bouche Center for Learning (formerly MHCPV) in a work setting, and 31 years at Commonsense Housing in a residential setting. In 2012 she began volunteering at My Friends place, working with people living with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 21 years Steven M. Johnson, are her son, Kevin J. Mansfield and his life partner, Robin Cacace of Old Town; her stepdaughter, Erica Johnson of Bangor; her sister, Colleen F. Hunt of Bridgton; her grandsons, Colin B. Mansfield of Norway and Ian T. MacCardle and his wife, Kaitlin of Glendale, AZ; A niece, Heather I. (Hunt) Ellsmore of Bridgton and her husband, Roger, and a nephew, Michael C. Hunt and his wife, Eileen of Cerritos CA.
She is predeceased by her sister, Rita M. Jordan and her son Shawn T. Mansfield.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of her life this summer at a time and place to be determined. She will be buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery, next to her son.
