Isabel Wilson

Lucy Wilson, 89, passed away November 10th, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born on March 28th, 1932 in Brewer, Maine. She was the fourth of seven children born to Carlton B. and Margaret E. (Millett) Shaw.

Lucy graduated from Brewer High school in 1950, and after graduation, attended the University of Maine. She took years off to be a full time wife to her beloved husband John and to raise their six children, before returning to the university to finish her degree in social work in 1979. After graduation Lucy worked for 20 years to provide healthcare and services to those in need. She retired in 1997 and then spent time as an ombudsman overseeing area nursing homes.

She was a lifetime member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish and an active volunteer in the local community, including St. Matthews Church and the Hampden Food Cupboard. She enjoyed quilting, music, and spending time with her family. Lucy spent many happy years at Branch Pond in Ellsworth with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Lucy is survived by two of her six siblings, Paula and John. She is also survived by her six children, John and his wife Donna, Larry and his wife Claire, Karen and her husband Curt, Michael and his wife Jo-Anna, Cindy and her husband Ed, and Laura and her husband Les, as well as fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by John, her husband of 54 years, four siblings, and a much-loved granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Friday, November 19, 2021, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
