BURLINGTON – Isabell “Issy” (Bucklin) Minott, 60, passed away peacefully December 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born August 9, 1958, in Portland, the daughter of Archer and Lena (Howe) Bucklin.
Issy graduated from Washburn High School, Class of 1976. Following high school, she attended The University of Maine at Machias, graduating with a degree in Recreation Management. Issy later went on to earn her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Maine at Orono.
A passionate athlete with a love for youth development led her to a fulfilling career of counseling, coaching, and positively impacting many lives. After 17 years in schools, she moved to Colorado where she co-founded a successful company with her husband, Chuck. There, she breathed new life into her love for volleyball, playing in dozens of national tournaments around the country. Later in life, she returned to Maine where she could be surrounded by family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Issy was predeceased by a nephew, John Kent Oldmixon III. She is survived by her husband, Irving “Chuck” Minott III; children, Jason Cross, Ashleigh Cross, Sara Minott, Irving “C.J.” Minott IV; grandchildren, Mari Colbert, Brady Minott; siblings, Donna Oldmixon, George Bucklin, Mel Bucklin, Ruth Kitchen, Raymond Bucklin; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Issy is also survived by her expansive and loving family in the volleyball world.
A funeral service was held 5 p.m., Friday December 21, 2018, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, with Rev. Keith Shorey, pastor of the Word of God Fellowship, Burlington, officiating. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
