Jack Shone

July 10, 1932 — April 20, 2021

Bangor - Jack C. Shone, 88, died on April 20, 2021 at a Bangor Hospital. He was born July 10, 1932 in Rochester, NY, the son of Frederick and Lillian (Pilgrim) Shone.

Jack served in the United States Air Force for over twenty years, having been stationed in Italy, Maine, Texas, Massachusetts, England, Florida, and Virginia until his retirement in 1970. He graduated from EMVTI in 1977 with a degree in Automotive Technology.

Jack was married to the love of his life, Jacqueline M. (Mortell) Shone.

Jack was a champion swimmer in high school in upstate New York. He enlisted in the United States Army as a young man, and later enlisted in the United States Air Force. Jack retired as a Tech Sargent, where he excelled as an aircraft mechanic and instructor. He liked to work on anything with an engine, regardless of the size!

Jack never missed any event his grandsons’ lives. He participated in and showed them important life skills like driving go carts and riding mini bikes. Jack loaded up “the guys” for pig farm adventures! He was indispensable with helping of newspaper deliveries, hockey practices and games. Jack also liked going to their camp, where he and his wife, Jackie would spend hours on their boat while their three daughters enjoyed water skiing. He was an avid car collector and restorer.

Later in life Jack and Jackie would attend United States Air Force reunions nationwide to catch up with friends they had made while in the service. Jack lived a full and enjoyable life.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline M. (Mortell) Shone; grandsons, Daniel and Jonathan Deveau, Sr.

He is survived by his three daughters, Sheri Shone and her family, grandsons, Timothy Rolland, and Wayne Rolland and his wife, Carliann, great grandchildren, Castine, Jack and Charlotte Rolland; Carol Kent and her husband, Steve, their family, grandson, Michael A. Deveau Jr. , great grandson, Jonathan M. Deveau, Jr.; Cathy Cross and her husband, Phil, their family, grandson, Robert Cross and his wife, Lisa, great granddaughters, Ciara and Austyn Cross; granddaughter, Rebecca Myxter and her husband, Lance; great granddaughter, Rilyn Myxter, and great grandson, Caleb Myxter.

A private family service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
