Jacqueline Vafiades

April 2, 1935 — March 27, 2025

BANGOR - Jacqueline Theresa (Parent) Vafiades, 89, passed away in her sleep on March 27, 2025, at Sylvia Ross Home. She was born April 2, 1935, in Bangor, the daughter of Lawrence Leon Parent and Anita Germaine (Durrette) Parent of Old Town, Maine.

After graduating from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1955, Jacqueline worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, as an RN. Later she worked at the Promise Clinic in Hampden as a nurse clinician helping to create the SOAP note that has become an integral part of medical practices today.

Jacqueline loved summers with family and friends at her and Stephen's camp "Whale 'O Rock" on Molasses Pond. In the 1980s, she and Stephen built their dream home "Tranquility" on Hancock Point where they laughed, loved and enjoyed many visits by their loving grandchildren. She cherished her friends in the area and attended many raft-ups with the Bean Island Yacht Club.

In 2014, she moved to the Highlands in Topsham, Maine where she attended senior college and treasured many friendships. She spent her remaining years supported by the wonderful staff at the Sylvia Ross Home in Bangor.

In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen and sister, Germaine. She is survived by her sisters, Bonita Grindle, Linda Campbell and husband, John; son, Peter Vafiades; daughter, Teira Vafiades and son, Todd Vafiades and wife, Angela. Jacqueline, aka "Yia Yia", is also survived by grandchildren, Elizabeth Vafiades Hofe and husband, Killian, Abigail Vafiades and partner, Dylan, Will Vafiades and Jamey Huffman along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
