HERMON - James Cleveland “Jim” McCarty, 92, died peacefully July 3, 2020, at his home. He was born December 28, 1927, in Hermon, the son of Cleveland A. and Stella (Gosman) McCarty.
Jim graduated from Hermon High School, Class of 1946. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and worked for Lane Construction for over 30 years. He was a member of Legion Post 0084, Orono, ME.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Madaline (Gordon) McCarty, a daughter, Jeanne, and a sister, Arline Simmons.
Jim liked watching the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics and was a fan of game shows like Jeopardy and Family Feud.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda and husband, Kenneth of Hermon; two grandsons, Kevin and partner, Kelsey of Hermon, Ryan and wife Victoria of Philadelphia, PA; a great-granddaughter, Coralee of Philadelphia; several nieces, nephews, and some special friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 pm Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A graveside service will be 1 pm Wednesday, July 8, at Evergreen Cemetery, Hermon, with Pastor Linette George, officiating.
