James A. Hodgkins
Old Town
Well folks, it’s true. I kicked the bucket, bit the big one on August 19, 2020. Too bad, since I still had a lot of stuff left to do. I had a great life, though. I was born January 3, 1945 in Greenville, Maine. I grew up in Rockwood, Maine and attended a one-room schoolhouse. I served in the US Army in Vietnam, traveled the great USA, raced fast cars, owned my own business, retired to a beautiful lake house and watched the Curse of Oak Island religiously. Some would call me a “jack of all trades” and that makes me happy. I married the love of my life, Nancy, and I’m real sorry I won’t be there to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in November. We raised two great kids, Jennifer and Michael. I was able to retire to care for my grandchildren, Jayden and Abigail. Watching those kiddos grow up has been one of the truest joys of my life. 75 years go by in a blink of an eye. Then, one day, you fall down and break your neck. The complications after that are what did me in, my body just couldn’t take it. I’ll miss my family and my one true best friend Roger DeLuck and his wife Sherry. Thank you D’Arcy Libby for being such a good friend to Nancy and the family. I was predeceased by my father and mother, Arthur Hodgkins and Rita (Johnston) Brown. I am survived by my brother William Hodgkins, wife Nancy (Morrison) Hodgkins, daughter Jennifer Hodgkins, son Michael Hodgkins, grandchildren Jayden Brawn and Abigail Brawn and brother-in-law David Morrison. There will be no service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you can donate to one of my favorite charities, Old Town Animal Orphanage, 11 Airport Rd., Old Town, ME. 04468, where we adopted our friend Max.
Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
