James “Jim” Joseph Lutz, 76, passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2024, in Bangor, Maine.
Born in Columbus, Ohio on October 6, 1947, to Leland and Bettymae Lutz, Jim graduated from Staples High School in Weston, Connecticut, and went on to attend Johns Hopkins University. He started his career as a fourth-grade teacher in Baltimore, Maryland and transitioned to a sales manager for First Brands Corporation in the automotive division where he worked for thirty years.
Before retiring in Maine, Jim resided in Plymouth, Massachusetts for over twenty years. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Cape Cod Bay and attending his children’s sporting events and award ceremonies.
Jim had a big heart and opened his doors to anyone in need. He was a German Shorthaired Pointer enthusiast. He had a special place in his heart for his pointers, Pepper and McIver, as well as his beloved rescue, Zeus.
In his free time, Jim had a passion for fixing and restoring anything that was broken or worn out. He enjoyed woodworking, auto mechanics, and re-glazing antique windows. He was a devoted fan of the Boston sports teams, especially the Boston Bruins, as well as NASCAR, and golf.
He is survived by his sons, James Devon and wife Elaine of Plymouth, MA, John Darren and partner Jessica Johnson of Kingston, MA, and daughter Rebecca Ruth and partner Vivienne Cyr of Glenburn, ME; four granddaughters; Molly, Abby, and Jillian Lutz of Plymouth, MA, and Aliya Boucher of Glenburn, ME. He is also survived by his sister Karen Benbrook and husband Chuck of WA, brother John Lutz and husband Eric of Paris, France, a niece Erin, and nephews Zach, Seth, and Alex. He leaves many close friends both near and far, including Dave at home and Armen who he spoke with almost daily from Alaska. He is now reunited with his parents, his late-daughter Jennifer Diane, former wife Cindy Lutz, and his many four-legged canine friends.
A celebration of life will be held 11AM, Saturday, June 29, 2024, Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St, Bangor, ME, with a reception to follow at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, ME.
