James Lynch, Esq.

August 23, 1932 — March 1, 2015

Brewer and Holden. James Giblin Lynch, 82 passed away on March 1, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 23, 1932 in Bangor, son of J. Francis Lynch and Catherine A. Nichols.

On October 24, 1952, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Constance “Connie” B. Ward. He attended John Bapst Memorial High School, graduating in 1951. He attended the University of Maine and Portland University Law School, graduating Cum Laude in 1958. While attending Law School he was selected for the Southern Maine Small College Association’s All Star Basketball Team in 1956 and 1957. In August of 1958 he was admitted to the Maine Bar having achieved the highest rank on that year’s entrance exam. Jim was a very well-known and respected attorney, practicing law for more than 50 years in Bangor. Jim continued to practice law up until the time of his death with Martha J. Harris and John D. Bunker at Paine, Lynch & Harris, P.A. Jim was a generous man. Throughout his life he quietly gave to those in need. He enjoyed tenpin bowling and was inducted into the American Bowling Congress Northeast Hall of Fame.
He was a diehard NY Football Giants fan and avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed, pool, golf, darts, trivia, word games, grilling, and baking. Jim and Connie cherished their time together - yearly trips to the Samoset, shopping, and their favorite TV programs. Da and Ma loved celebrating all of the holidays with their family especially Christmas. They made great effort to ensure that each was a memorable occasion for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Of particular joy was watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sports and activities. Family was everything. There are no words to describe Jim’s great love for his family and their love for him.


James is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Connie, and was blessed with five children: Brenna Hope and her husband, Garry of Holden; James K. Lynch and his wife, Rachel of Brewer; Terri Ward and her husband, Jeffrey of Brewer; Connie Ann Lynch of Brewer; and Lynn Prince and her husband, Brian of Veazie; eight grandchildren, Benjiman Ward and his wife, Jessica of Brewer, Brianna Lynch of Brewer, Jesse Lynch of Minneapolis, MN; Teagan, Bevin and Brogan Prince, all of Veazie, Melanie Walden of Bangor and Kelly Bernier of Oakland; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and James Ward, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, John Lynch, Richard Lynch, and sister, Anne Pariselli.

A funeral Mass will be held 11am Monday March 9, 2015 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, immediately following the Mass Monday.
