HOLDEN – James F. McGrath, 71, died unexpectedly December 21, 2014 at a Bangor hospital and went to heaven to be with his family. He was born July 26, 1943 in Brewer, son of Daniel J. and Olga (Crockett) McGrath.
Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid history buff. He collected coins and baseball cards and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his early days.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara (O’Brien) McGrath of Holden; his daughter, Tammy Dudley and her husband, Scott of South Carolina; his son, Chris McGrath and companion, Julie Hoffman of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Leila McGrath of Illinois, Christopher McGrath of Iowa, Tamara McGrath of Pennsylvania, Warren Dudley and Jacob Dudley, both of South Carolina; brothers, Daniel McGrath and his wife, MaryEllen, Andy McGrath and his wife, Patricia, Eddie McGrath, Mark McGrath and his wife, Rosalie, all of Maryland and David Crockett of Virginia; one sister, Diane McCloud and her husband, Theodore of Hermon; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Everett and Linda Amore of Oklahoma, Donna Boudreau and her late husband, Roger, Reed Thurber and his late wife, Margaret and Michael Hardy.
Upon his request, the family invites relatives and friends to join them in a celebration of Jim’s life 4 to 6pm Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Eastern Maine Snowmobile Club, Levenseller Road, Holden. Those who wish to remember Jim in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Activity Fund of the Maine Veterans’ Home, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
