James Russell

July 9, 1951 — March 30, 2014

BREWER – James J. Russell, 62, passed away on March 30, 2014, after a short illness, at a local hospital. He was born July 9, 1951, in Bangor, the son of Charles and Retia (Doherty) Russell of Eddington.
Jimmy graduated from Brewer High School in 1969 and proceeded to attend the University of Maine. He was a member of the Maine Air National Guard. He went on to work at Diamond International, where he met his wife Cathy. In 1987, Jimmy moved on to work at Bangor Hydro and CGI (Emera Maine) as an IT Specialist. Jimmy was defined by his quick wit and sense of humor. His love and support was unwavering for his daughters and wife, as well as the Patriots, the Red Sox and Halloween.
He is survived by his wife Cathy and daughters Sarah (& her counterpart Jason Babbidge) of Glenburn, & Alexandra of Portland, Maine. He adored his family: Charlie & Lauren Russell of Kentucky; Carolyn & Randy Percival of Eddington; Bob & Rosie Russell of Clifton; Rita & Tom Havener of Florida; Steve & Cathy Russell of Eddington; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by Pauline & John Lodge of Bangor; Sandra & Rodney Liles of Oklahoma; Bill Eastman of Brewer, extended family and his co-workers whom he considered to be dear friends. Jimmy’s family would also like to extend true gratitude to the staff of the Brewer Health Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital. Jimmy was predeceased by his father, Charles and his mother Retia.
We will celebrate his life at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main St., Brewer, where relatives and friends may call from noon until the time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Rooms at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith following the service. Those who wish to remember Jim in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Old Town Animal Orphanage, 71 Airport Road, Old Town ME, 04468.
