James “Jim” Arthur Wentworth, 77, passed away in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on September 16th, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones after battling long term illness. Born November 29th, 1946 in Bangor, Maine. Son of John and Helen (Bradley) Hudson. Jim first and foremost was known for his loving heart that had accepted everyone he knew as family. It is said that if you ever felt like you didn’t fit in anywhere, you always fit in with him. Jim accepted children as his children, and never changed his mind. He accepted grandchildren as his grandchildren, and family was family, because of your heart not because of your blood.
Jim loved children, and believed that little ones were “Good Luck”. He adored the presence of a child, and would interact with them no matter what. If they didn’t like anyone, he would find a way for them to like him. He was everyone’s father, he was everyone’s Grampy. Jim was also incredibly intelligent which blew people away to find out that he stopped going to school in just the 6th grade! Jim could talk about any subject with detail and great intellect! He also always championed his children’s intelligence, boasting about their accomplishments, and how hard his children work. He was so proud of each and every one of them and he would tell anyone who would listen all about it. He embodied the quintessential family man, and was the glue that held the family together once his mother, Helen, passed. For many of his children the best memories they have are memories given by Jim at the house on Hancock Street, where Jim also held the fondest memories. It was said that he would love to lay out at the rock looking over the Penobscot River and watch his house reminiscing the life he and his family had there. But Jim wasn’t only a family man, he was a busy man with a plan. He invented the hustle. Selling knickknacks, hats, and more. No matter what the hustle was, he made sure all of his children had everything they needed and were taken care of.
Jim had a very big personality, was a wild, free fighter, and moved with the wind but always knew where home was. He enjoyed many things, body building and working out was his passion. He loved music, beautiful women, black and white cowboy films, & football - especially the Patriots! When seeing Pittbull on TV he was quoted joking that he liked him because “There’s always beautiful women around him”.
When you went to his house often times he was playing music. He truly loved to just lay back and listen, he even had a secret infatuation with the song Grenade by Bruno Mars. Telling everyone in the room to hush so he could listen in peace. If the music wasn’t on, cowboys, football or the news was. He also always loved getting to know peoples’ talents and supporting them. He believed anyone could get “big” from their talents and was so proud of watching his children make music or hang their paintings on his walls. He believed in everyone, no matter what. He taught his family how to be strong, resilient, to never give up and keep going. He taught his family forgiveness. He was everyone’s hero, he was the one that everyone could depend on no matter what, he was the guy to run to when you needed help. He even genuinely saved some of his family. He lived for his family. “All those knocks on wood sure did work cause Jim was the last outlaw who fought the law his whole life and lived his life to the very end free and on his terms”.
