Jane Harburger

October 14, 1949 — August 12, 2023

Jane M. (Mooers) Harburger died peacefully on August 12, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 14, 1949, in Houlton, ME, the daughter of Albert Mooers III and Marie (Stackhouse) Drew.
Jane graduated from Houlton High School in 1967. Following graduation, she earned a bachelor's degree from Husson University in Bangor, ME and later obtained her Master of Education in Technology from Lesley University, Cambridge MA. Jane married the love of her life, Richard Harburger, and they settled in Brewer, ME. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in May.
Jane had a love for teaching, adored her students, and regarded all the teachers and administrators she worked with as family. She taught at Fort Fairfield and Presque Isle High Schools and later spent many years at Reedsbrook Middle School in Hampden, ME, which she considered her home away from home.
Jane was surrounded with love and faith from her church family. She attended Church of the Good Shepherd in Houlton, ME, St. John's Episcopal Church in Presque Isle, ME, and spent 36 years with St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Brewer, ME. She had many travel adventures throughout the U.S., Europe, Russia, and recently took her dream trip to Tanzania for a safari. Jane wished a special thank you to the outstanding doctors who cared for her throughout her battle with cancer, Dr. Vanadia and Dr. Rock at St. Josephs, and Dr. Chodkiewicz at Lafayette Family Cancer Center.
Surviving in addition to her loving husband, Richard Harburger, are her handsome son, Aaron Harburger of Bangor; beautiful daughter, Laura Baird and husband, Brendan, of Hermon; one amazing granddaughter, Makayla; mother, Marie Drew of New Limerick; two sisters, Joan Fournier of Houlton, and Susan Cone and husband, Milton, of Houlton; five brothers, Randy Mooers and wife, Barbara, of Ludlow, Calvin Mooers and wife, Corinne, of Georgia, Albert Mooers IV and wife, Kathy, of Bangor, David Mooers and wife, Nancy, of Houlton, Mark Drew and wife, Melanie, of New Limerick; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Bennett and husband, Dick, of New Hampshire, Susan Mullin of Florida; many nieces/grandnieces and nephews/grandnephews; and so many close friends that she considered as family. Jane was predeceased by her father, Albert Mooers III; stepfather, L. Gene Drew; brother-in-law, Robert Fournier; sisters-in-law, Enid Card and Maureen Casner; grandniece, Hannah Mooers.
To all who knew and loved Jane, she wanted you to find comfort in knowing she lived a full and rich life.
The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of life from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on August 26, 2023, at The Tarratine, 81 Park St., Bangor, ME 04401. There will be a committal service from 11:44 a.m.-12 p.m. at the same location.
Those who wish to remember Jane in a special way may make gifts in her memory by planting a tree, donating to St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, 21 Holyoke St., Brewer, ME 04412, or helping Jane further support two children in Africa with school supplies (checks to Deborah Adams, 40 Highland Ridge Drive, Hampden, ME 04444).
