Bangor – Jane E. Solomon, 76, passed peacefully at her home, November 20, 2020, surrounded by her good friends and her dog, Molly, by her side. She was born December 2, 1943, to Isadore and Evelyn (Byer) Solomon.
Jane was born in Bangor, and moved to California during her high school years, with her mother, after the passing of her father. There, she graduated from high school, obtained a Master’s Degree, and began her career with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Jane had a zest for life, which included gambling, her dog, Molly, traveling with friends to Mexico, and a good smoke. In California, she helped her friend, Lorraine, raise her children, Joey and Lisa, whom she loved as her own. In her later years she moved back home to Bangor where she continued living life to the fullest. She dedicated herself to her Beth Israel family, reconnected with the Bangor High School class of ’61, enjoyed summers and high holidays at Old Orchard Beach, and was fondly referred to as “Bubbe’s Janie.” Janie had a kind and generous spirit, and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Kathi; and the love of her life, Jay.
She is survived by her cousins, Michael Albert, Alan and Joel Nathan, Kathy Schiff, Karen DeRoche, and Bruce Byer, who remember her lovingly as their dancing cousin.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2020 at Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor. Those wishing to remember Jane in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Beth Israel Synagogue, 144 York St. Bangor ME 04401. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
