Bangor – Janet L. Dinsmore Chapas, 66, passed away very peacefully October 6, 2020, at a local hospital. She was born March 29, 1954, in Bangor, the daughter of Doris (Spratt) and Beverly Dinsmore.
Janet graduated from Bangor high school, class of 1972. Following graduation she attended the University of Maine at Farmington. Janet worked for 25 years at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Janet was a homemaker and mother, cherishing her time with her children and grandchildren. When not spending time with family, she enjoyed playing Bingo with her longtime friend, Tammy LaFrance. She also enjoyed arts and crafts. Janet had a beautiful singing voice and a contagious smile that would light up a room.
Janet is survived by her children, Jason Chapas and wife, Jesse, Jaime Secodino and husband, Toby, and Jennifer Chapas; grandchildren, Cody and Alexandra Chapas, Lillianna and Chase Secodino, Barrett Birmingham, and Madisyn Nathan; sisters, Muriel Munz and husband, Joseph, Donna Courtney; brother, Frank Dinsmore and wife, Janie; as well as several special nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Susan Thomas, and Lois Cousins.
In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Richard Courtney; and granddaughter, McKenzie Nathan.
Family and friends are welcome to call 12-1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Please be mindful of others by practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering, and that staff will be conducting contact tracing. Interment will be private for family.
