Janet I. Sherwood

Janet “Grammy” Sherwood, 86, passed away January 30, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bangor, June 8, 1929, daughter of Harvey W. and Dorothea (Farrar) Grant.
As a teenager, Janet worked at Freese’s Department Store in the cafeteria.
She later worked at many jobs over the years, including American Felt Slipper, Brewer. She was the manager of the Paramount and the Hide-A-Way Lounges, Bangor, and The Ranch Restaurant, Eastport.
Janet was a longtime member of the Bangor Singles Club, the Elks Club, Eagles Club, and the Bangor Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving are, her husband, Earl Sherwood of Brewer; one daughter, Sherian Bragg of Orrington; four grandchildren, Douglas Lagasse of Buxton, Christine Lagasse and Daniel Lagasse, both of Washington State, Renee Steller of Orrington; seven great grandchildren, Charles Lagasse, Chase Sullivan, Joseph Lagasse, Andru Lagasse, Anthony “T.J.” Yurchick, Danielle Caron, and Michael Steller; many nieces, nephews and extended families.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, Pastor and Teacher, officiating. Spring interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Clifton.
