Janice E. Boucher, 73, of Old Town, passed away March 11, 2023 at Russell Park Living Center in Lewiston from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Janice was born on October 7, 1949 to Leroy and Eva Feero. After graduating from Old Town High School, she was told by her father that she could get married or seek higher education but not do both. With determination she did both but not on the traditional schedule. She met and married her husband Edmond and raised a family in Old Town. For years she was the homemaker and kept the trains running on time, juggling kids’ schedules and caring for her husband following a debilitating work accident less than a decade into their marriage. As a non-traditional student she enrolled and graduated from Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. She then began working in retail stores advancing into a management position at Walmart in Bangor where she worked for more than 20 years in the fabric department.
One would be hard pressed to find a tougher woman than Janice. Throughout the curveballs life threw her she maintained a smile and desire to do what was best for her family. Following a tragic accident in 2015 she lost all of the fingers on both hands due to severe frostbite, but never complained and adapted to this challenge with humor and courage.
Prior to her accident, Janice enjoyed sewing and will be remembered for the many quilts and Christmas tree skirts she made for family and friends and vast collection of thimbles from around the world. An avid reader, until her final months she could often be found immersing herself in the latest novel of her favorite author, Danielle Steel.
Janice was predeceased by her husband, Edmond as well as parents Leroy and Eva Feero.
Janice is survived by her children Jennifer of Livermore Falls, Joseph of Augusta, Lance and his wife Rachael of Manchester; her granddaughter Kayla and her fiance Benjamin Clark, Jr.; grandsons Brady, Jackson and Grayson; dear friend, Dawn Marie Glidden; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A graveside service will be held in the spring with interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Old Town.
