Jean E. Hews
Brewer
Jean Elaine (Edgecomb) Hews, passed away August 2, 2024 peacefully in her sleep following a brief, few months of declining health, at home while in hospice care. She was born on February 24, 1937 the only child of Walter and Selena (Havey) Edgecomb.
As a young widow and only child, Jean and her children’s lives changed beyond measure becoming part of the Hews family. She “was all in” and embraced making lasting memories with brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews that she never dreamed she would have. If you were fortunate enough to be touched by her love you would instantly become one of “her people” and most certainly in one of her (perhaps embellished) “true stories.”
She was fondly known and loved as “mumsey” to “her guys” during her 27 years of dedicated service within facilities management at Eastern Maine Medical Center. She always had an open ear and truly embraced you with unfailing love.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved and devoted husband of 58 years, Franklin A. Hews, son Paul Shaw, stepson Bruce Hews, father and mother-in-law Harold and Mary Hews, brothers/sisters-in-law Richard and Betty Hews, Harold and Patricia Hews, Paul and Joyce Hews and most recently John Hews.
Surviving are her daughters, Linda Powers and her husband Richard of Hermon, Laurie Fullerton and her husband Michael of Glenburn; stepdaughter, Brenda Bourdeau of Dover-Foxcroft, step-son, Gregg Hews and his wife, Debbie of Tipp City, Ohio; sister-in-law, Brenda Hews of Millinocket, daughter-in-law Cathy Jordan of Bangor, grandchildren George and Samantha Snyder, Brandon Snyder, B.J. Hews, Shawn and Angela Hews, Kimberly and Randale Jennings, Ethan Hews, Emma Hews, Kathy Powers and Erin Shaw, great grandchildren, Hannah Snyder, (Sarah) , Grace and Will Pavlicin, Cody Hews, Hunter Hews, Katie Hews, Brady Hews, Juliana Jennings,(Rudy) , Garyn Jennings, (Amber), Abrielle Jennings, (Jade), Nickole Powers; great, great grandson Milo Pavlicin. Her family cannot express how grateful we are to the “angels on earth” from Beacon Hospice for her exceptional care during her final journey. Truly you became “her people”. As well, our mom was so grateful for the care during her hospital stay at Northern Light. She especially believed with her whole heart that her heroes from the Heart Catheterization Lab, not just in recent weeks , but many years ago giving her many happy retirement years with our dad.
