Jean G. Moffet
BANGOR – Jean G. Moffet, 79, died peacefully September 15, 2013 at a local healthcare center. She was born February 19, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of David Lambert and Florence Irene (Gabriel) Scott.
Jean graduated from Irvington High School, Irvington, NJ, Class of 1952. Jean was active in the Order of the Rainbow for Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star New Jersey. She started her career working for the Constable of Essex County. Jean was involved in her church and community where she worked as parish secretary at Montville United Methodist Church, Montville Board of Education and retired from the Visiting Nurse Association in Morristown, NJ. She was a talented quilter and after moving to Bangor, Maine in 2010, enjoyed her time with the Bangor Troop Greeters. She was a devoted mother and a kind hearted person. Jean was sure to keep her clan in the “old country” near and dear to her heart. Every Christmas and New Year’s Eve she would raise a glass to Scotland and Wales to keep them in our thoughts.
In addition to her parents and brother David, she was predeceased by her son Gary Edward Swackhamer, granddaughter Sarah Jean Swackhamer, Frank F. Swackhamer, William A. Moffet and Harold Sturtevant. She is survived by her daughter Linda Swackhamer and her husband Ken Croatman, Boonton Township, NJ; daughter Robin S. Merchant and her husband Roger of Glenburn, ME; granddaughter Rene M. Whitney and her husband Eric of Hermon, ME; and her dear friend Joyce Tichenor.
