Jeanette "Janie" Simpson

April 10, 1931 — March 26, 2016

Jeanette “Janie” Weiller Nowell Simpson, 84, passed away peacefully, March 26, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Glenburn. Janie was born in Bangor, April 10, 1931, the daughter of Robert and Bernice (Bean) Nowell.
Janie attended Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1949. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl H. Simpson, on May 5, 1950. For 38 years, Janie and Carl owned and operated Simpsons Superette. Carl and Janie worked very hard to provide for their family.
Janie loved spending her summers at their camp on Pushaw Lake, since 1958, when they built their own camp, right up until last summer. She had a lifelong passion for riding horses, and was very fond of her dogs. Janie loved to knit for her family and they were never short on mittens, scarves, coats and Mary Maxim sweaters. In her later years, Janie developed a passion for traveling. She took many trips with her children, a Mexican cruise with Sue and Jim; a trip to Africa with Karen and her family; a trip to see the Rockette’s at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with Marylee; a visit to see Sue in the Villages, FL; two Thanksgivings spent with Jill in West Palm Bay, FL; as well as many other trips to San Diego, Albuquerque, Mexico and Florida
Janie was a devoted mother to her five children. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a graciousness in her character that made everyone who entered her home feel welcome. For the last year and a half, Janie lived with her daughter, Marylee, and they both treasured the special relationship and memories that were formed during this time.
In addition to her parents, Janie was predeceased by her husband, Carl, in 2004; and her brother, Robert Nowell. She is survived by her children, Thomas “Tom” Simpson of Hudson, Susan Bonzey and husband, James of Dedham, Jill Leslie and husband, Bo of West Palm Bay, FL, Marylee Chase of Glenburn, and Karen Simpson of San Diego; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Bonzey of Sacramento, CA, Janel Sines and husband, Aaron, and their children, Boede James and Elliot Jane, all of Bangor, Adam Chase of Portland, Sam Chase of Bangor, Leo Chase of Austin, TX, Olivia Jane Simpson and Aja Pilar Simpson, both of San Diego, CA.
