Jean A. Wiley, 66, passed away at a Bangor memory care home after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease, on November 22, 2022, with her beloved husband, Lewis, and her dear brother, Barney, by her side. She was born January 5, 1956, in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of Clyde Morrill Sr. and Phyllis (Scovil) Morrill.

Jeanie attended Bangor schools and graduated Bangor High School in 1975. She spent many years as an active member of the Salvation Army and enjoyed playing the tambourine and going on summer weekend trips, with her kids in tow, as part of that troop. In 1978 she married James McCarter and in 1983 moved to Winterport with their two children, Michelle and Jeff, and began building a home in the woods.

After James’ death in 1987, she met the love of her life Lewis Wiley, Jr. to whom she was married for 32 years. The marriage created a blended family, and she gained three additional children, Jason, Christopher and Jessica, and a large extended family who she adored and loved spending time with, especially at the Wiley camp on Moosehead Lake.

Lewis and Jeanie loved doing everything together. In their earlier years, they spent many nights and weekends candlepin bowling with their best friends at Bangor Brewer Bowling Lanes, and all around Maine and Canada. Throughout their years together they liked to travel most of all. Jeanie’s happy place was Disney World, and she spent many winters in Florida making several friends who became like family along the way. They also enjoyed exploring new places, cruising and were able to fulfill their lifelong dream of traveling cross country in their RV.

Jeanie was known for being a kid at heart, happy-go-lucky and making friends everywhere she went. She would talk to anyone and everyone, given the chance, and could make anybody laugh out loud.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis Wiley, Jr.; daughters Michelle McCarter of Cape Elizabeth, ME; Jessica Hebert and her husband, Chris and their children, Cody, Logan and Dominic of Bangor, ME; Becky Reed and her children, Conner, Griffin and Chandler of Bangor, ME; sons, Jeffery McCarter and his partner, Carla Norton of Freedom, ME; Jason Wiley and his wife, Kristine and their children Annabelle, Emma, Julia, David and Michael of Glenburn, ME; parents-in-law, Lewis Wiley Sr. and Emma Wiley of Glenburn, ME; sisters, best friend and special caregiver, Janet Morrill of Bangor, ME; Pamela Meucci and her husband, Andy of Bangor, ME; brothers, Alton (Barney) Morrill and his wife, Karin of Bangor, ME; Clyde Morrill, Jr. of Hermon, ME; sister-in-law, Pam Nelson and her husband, Marty of Valley, AL; brothers-in-law, Robert Wiley and his partner, Georgia Peirce of Kenduskeag, ME; Ronnie Wiley and his wife, Tammie of Glenburn, ME; two cats, Rosie and Buddy; she is also survived by a large family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
