Jeanne Anita Levesque Mcburnie

February 6, 1926 — November 27, 2020

Bangor
Jeanne Anita Levesque McBurnie, 94, succumbed to Covid-19 November 27, 2020. She was born in Lille, Maine, the daughter of Emile and Anastasie Levesque and was raised in Keegan Maine. She graduated two years early as Valedictorian from Sacred Heart High School in Van Buren.
In 1945, she married her life-long love, Mac. They made their home in Veazie where she lived for over 60 years.
She worked for Prentice & Carlisle, in Bangor, as a secretary, bookkeeper and a translator for the French-speaking logging industry. She retired from that same company, after a long career.
She and Mac travelled to Ireland and Mexico and extensively throughout the United States. Jeanne was a member of the Veazie Garden Club, Bangor Nature Club, St. John’s Catholic Church, and the Bangor YMCA Scholarship Committee. She was an avid swimmer and swam several days a week at the Bangor YMCA. Jeanne was an avid toothpick holder collector that brought her to places far and wide. She was always a very detail oriented woman that kept meticulous records on virtually everything.
In their zeal to always do the right thing, Jeanne and Mac cared for Mac’s niece, Deborah Howley Flynn through her formative years instilling their positive qualities that follow Deborah to this day. Jeanne was always the go to person for hosting family gatherings and did so with the utmost of grace.
Jeanne spent most holidays and special events in Farmingdale with her nephew, David Levesque and family. She would only retire to bed after enjoying her nightly cup of hot chocolate. Jeanne had a zest for life and was always up for new adventures. She was proactive in recognizing that she was aging and always initiated her moves to the next level of care. She was a role model for all seniors.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is predeceased by her husband Henry “Mac”, her brothers Freddie and Emilien, her sisters Ernestine, Lucille, Marcella, Joan, and Hermance. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her close friends in the Veazie neighborhood
