JEFFERY CURTIS MCLEOD

Jeffery C. McLeod joined his Lord and Savior after a long and difficult battle with cancer on Friday, October 15, 2021, at his home in Levant. He was born on January 11, 1957, in Bangor, the son of George and Paula McLeod.
Jeff grew up in Bangor and spent many hours riding bikes and playing with his lifelong friend, Joe Murphy. Jeff graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1975. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on several different ships during his 4 years of duty. After being honorably discharged, Jeff married Patricia Reneau on December 18, 1982, and they settled in Bangor where they had 4 children in 5 years. The young family eventually moved to Levant. Jeff was a wonderful father and grandfather (“Pop”) as well as a hard working employee of Transco which later became Xerox. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter where he served faithfully as the Children’s Church Director for many years. Jeff enjoyed music, hiking, camping, swimming, and spending time with his family at camp on Branch Pond.
Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Patricia McLeod, and children, Rachel McLeod and her husband, Lenny Lones, of Bangor, Benjamin McLeod and his wife, Mallory (Blake), of Bethel, Jonathan McLeod of Orono, and Samuel McLeod and his wife, Kelsey (Watkins), of St. Charles, Missouri; two grandsons, Daniel and Abel McLeod of St. Charles, Missouri; his sister, Davia Knowlton, of Bangor; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as Patty’s family in Texas; and countless friends who all loved Jeff dearly. Jeff was predeceased by his mother and grandparents, Chet and Rachel Curtis, as well as his brother-in-law, Paul Knowlton.
Jeff received excellent care from his medical team including the following: Oncologist Dr. Louie Cruz and his nurse, Suzanne Chasse-Davis; Ostomy nurses at Wicked Wound Care, Cally Mountain and Briana Shields ; Dr. Susan Cheff; Northern Light Hospice; Dr. Matthew Mossanen at Brigham & Women’s Hospital; and Dr. Bradley McGregor at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. During his battle with cancer, Jeff was in weekly contact with his friend, Dr. Frederick M. Boyce, who answered medical questions as well as providing moral support.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call Wednesday, October 20, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The funeral service will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter, Pastor Stan Griffin officiating, on Thursday, October 21, 5:30 p.m. with a reception following in the church fellowship hall. The internment with military honors at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta will take place on Tuesday, October 26, at 10:00 a.m. Those who wish to remember Jeff in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Stand With Me, a ministry founded by Scotty Mitchell to build and distribute standing frames to handicapped children in 3rd World countries, 4931 Kilkenny Ct., Indianapolis, IN 46254 or Christine B.
