Hermon-SEBRING, FLA. - Jeffrey R. Doughty, 67, peacefully departed on October 17, 2020, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, Florida. Cherished husband to Carole Hamilton Doughty and devoted, father, son, and brother, Jeff joined the angels and was reunited with his beloved mother Nancy Mooney Doughty, and his father Percy. Jeff taught his children to be strong and to take life head on; until the very end, he practiced what he preached with his own courageous and hard-fought battle against cancer.
He was born in Hermon on August 7, 1953, and graduated from Hermon High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked 35 years for the Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. as a lineman, a job he loved. He was a member of the American Legion, Maine Buck & Antler, and the Fin & Feather Club.
Jeff leaves behind his three children: son, Jeffrey Doughty Jr., wife, Lucy and grandson, Jayden, of Massachusetts, daughter, Melissa Bryant, partner, Craig Nicholson, and grandchildren, Kalika Simpson and Corbin Wescott, of Hermon and son, David Miller, wife, Sara and grandchildren, Isaac and Carmen, of Orono. Jeff also leaves his brother and best friend, Wayne Doughty, whom he loved so much, wife, Beth, nephew, Shayne Doughty and family; and niece, Liza Muth and family. His stepson, Steven Todd Cyr, wife, Leane, and grandson, Landon, of Brewer and stepdaughter, Christine Lee and husband, Randy, of Florida, granddaughter, Sydney Conrad and husband, Will, of Georgia, and granddaughter, Anna Beck and great-granddaughter, Alaina, of Florida.
An avid outdoorsman, Jeff loved to hunt and fish. He respectfully explored the Maine woods and lakes with an uncanny sixth sense. He had a generous heart and thoughtful nature, always paying close attention to the needs and likes of his family and friends. His attention to detail came in handy when cooking a favorite meal or buying gifts and he especially loved shopping for the perfect gift at a bargain price.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 1pm to 3pm Saturday August 7, 2021 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor..
