Jeffrey Edward Field (Jef), 69, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, at his Carmel home. Jef was born on December 17, 1955, in Lewiston, ME, to Florence and Rupert Field. Jef was the oldest of five brothers and two sisters. The family relocated from the New Gloucester area to Mars Hill, then settled in Hampden in 1965. Jef began guitar lessons at a young age and was a talented musician. In his high school years, he was a running back and a safety for the Hampden Academy Broncos. Jef was Vice President of the class of 1974.
After high school, Jef began a degree in Marine Sciences at the University of Maine at Machias before accepting a job for Stratham Tire in Buffalo, NY. Deciding to return to Maine, he earned his associate's degree from EMVTI (Now Eastern Maine Community College.) Jef began his career at Bangor Hydro as a Fleet Manager in his thirties. Jef was a member of multiple local bands including White Water Run and Footloose. He was an avid outdoorsman, a golfer, and a pool playing connoisseur. Jef was known for his quick wit and sarcasm which he used to make light of most situations. He had a friendly face and a listening ear to anyone in need.
