Passadumkeag
Jennie (Putnam) Rigby, 94, went to join her husband, Lloyd, November 9, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 23, 1919, the 5th daughter of 6, to John and Myra (Streeter) Putnam.
Jennie married Lloyd Rigby in August of 1941 in Marlboro, N.H., and shortly after, they moved to Mt. Chase, Maine where Lloyd was a forest fire watchman. Summers were spent at Hay Lake and Macwahoc on patrol. Lloyd and Jen raised three daughters. They moved to Greenbush where Lloyd worked at the Reforestation Station Nursery. Jennie also spent many summers, weeding and grading trees at the nursery. As a stay at home Mom, Jennie was very involved with the Faith Bible Church, Olamon and as an active member of the PTA. In the late 1950’s, the family moved to Passadumkeag where both Lloyd and Jen were involved in town functions. Jennie worked 10 plus years in food service at the University of Maine. Retiring to travel with Lloyd, her family and friends. Jennie’s crocheted table clothes, bedspreads and other handy work won blue ribbons at grange fairs and became cherished keepsakes of family and friends.
Surviving are three daughters, Connie Bridge and her husband Burrill of Hermon, Christine Cote and her husband Ronald of Blue Hill, Jeanne Kerns and her husband Gary of Topsham; grandchildren, with whom she spent many happy hours, Lynn Foley, Ken Butler, Timothy Cote, Faith Snow, April Chapman, Pam Kerns, Lori Jessie, and Donny Kerns. She was blessed to be the great grandmother of 13 and great great ,grandmother of 1. Also surviving are one sister, Madelyn Porter and her husband Raymond of Patten; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband and four sisters.
The family wishes to thank the friends and staff of Penobscot Nursing Home, for their loving care of Jennie. Many friendships and lasting bonds were formed.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. Bangor, 1-3 PM. Saturday November 16, 2013.
