Joan "Bugga" (Hosmer) Brown

Born in Bangor, Maine on September 17th, 1948 to Gordon & Julia (Mogan) Hosmer. She was the 4th out of 8 children. She grew up and lived in the Bangor area, attending Bangor schools.

She passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at her daughters' house surrounded by family.
She enjoyed dancing, playing Beano, Sorry, Skip-Bo and wrestling. She loved her Dunkin Donuts iced coffee and most importantly –ELVIS!!! Bugga was stubborn, very vocal about her thoughts and liked to joke around and if you became her friend, she gave you a nickname!

She was predeceased by her husband and soulmate, Jim “Brownie” Brown. Both of her parents, and both of her brothers, Eddie and Michael “Mickey” Hosmer. She leaves behind her 2 children, Charles Hosmer and his wife Haydee of Bangor, Marcia Long and her husband Norman of Eddington.; grandchildren: Chris (Merilee) Hosmer, Sarah (Michael) King, Stephanie (Joe) Stratis, Kyle Shaw, Andrea (Jesse) Pelkey, Nathan Dyer, Mariah Long, Caleb (Kaylee) Long; great grandchildren: Claire and Aria Hosmer, Lorelei King, Layah Long and Claytin Anderson; sisters: Loretta Bailey, Sharon (Bobby) Hazelton, Denise (Tommy) McGrath, Suzanne “Suesue” (Scott) McCutcheon and Marcia (Joey) Larkin; several nieces, nephews and friends: Val Fleming, Freda DiNapoli and Mary Jacobson.

A big thank you to the staff at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor where she resided for the last several years on D-Unit they adapted quickly to mom’s personality and friendships soon developed. Special thanks to Becky “Beckyyyyyy”, Danielle “Darlene”, Alexis and Jaimie for going above and beyond in the care of her!

Special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice, especially nurse Lynn for the comfort and care given to our mom during her last days.

Services will be held at a later date when Covid restriction have been lifted.
