Joan Ruth Clark of Levant, Maine, passed away in Bangor, Maine on Thursday, September 8, 2022. Joan was 94-years-old.
Joan is survived by her siblings, Stanley Clark of Corinth, Maine, Edna Smart of Corinth, Maine, Helen Lewis of Orono, Maine, Carol Hammond and her husband William of Vernon, Vermont, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother and father; her sisters, Shirley Fowles, Ella Clark; brother, David Clark.
Joan was a dedicated educator, and taught in schools in Newport and China, Maine, before answering an ad to teach in Hawaii. Joan taught for thirty-seven years on the island of Oahu under the same principal. She eventually came home to care for her mother in Corinth, Maine.
Joan loved the Lord and her desire to be taken home to be with him. She was a wonderful Christian and devoted her life to teach in a Christian school in Hawaii. While living in Orlando, Florida, after leaving Hawaii, she helped in after-school Bible clubs, a food pantry, and taught the Adult Women’s Sunday School class.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Dean Hill Cemetery in Orrington, Maine at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, and a small reception with refreshments will be served after the service at 18 Longwood Court, Orono, Maine.
