Joan M. “Jo” Emery, 87, passed away December 31, 2018, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 1, 1931, in Carmel, ME, the daughter of Harold and Eleanor (Knight) Brown.
She and her friend Al traveled the United States together in their RV. For 15+ years Jo was a volunteer driver for Penquis Cap. Jo would always meet you with a smile and was a very positive person. She loved to listen to music and danced her whole life.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Emery; son, Dan Emery; sister, Lorraine Verrill; brother, Clarence Brown; and special friend, Al Bolster.
Jo is survived by her daughter, Karla and her husband, David Ramsay of Hermon; grandchildren, Angela and her husband, Chris Hillman of Virginia, Ryan Ramsay of Hermon, Tyler Emery of Orono; great grandchildren, Caleb, Lilly and Sam all of Virginia; sister, Serean and her husband, Craig Clement of Brewer; brother, Norman and his wife Emily Brown of Carmel, Maynard and his wife, Jane Brown of Florida, Gary Brown of Brewer; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A gathering to celebrate the life of Jo will be held 2-4 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
